I make sunshine lattes when I’m having two types of days: 1. A day where I feel like I don’t need caffeine to start my morning, and 2. When I feel like my immune system needs a serious boost.
The key ingredient in sunshine/golden milk lattes (and the culprit of this beautiful color), is turmeric. I try to include turmeric in my recipes as often as I can because it has an impressive list of health benefits. Turmeric can protect the brain, help lessen joint pain and inflammation, and it can aid both an upset stomach and heartburn. And that’s only naming a few…
Long story short, this ish is good for you. So, why not start your day with it?
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 cup non-dairy milk of your choice (the above is homemade almond)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/3 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp coconut butter
- pinch of pink salt
- cinnamon to taste
Bring a cup of filtered water to a boil. Once it’s boiling, add all ingredients to a blender and blend until frothy. Pour in a mug and garnish with cinnamon.
FYI: *If you like your lattes a little sweeter, you can add more vanilla, less turmeric, use agave nectar, etc. If you like them bitter, add more turmeric. Also, the more coconut butter you add, the frothier it will be!
